Stop Being A Silly Billy – Join Us!

It seems silly running this site when the podcast is available elsewhere and when we have a facebook page.

So,  I’m going to stop updating it.

The show will continue, it’s just a sensible move as more people use the facebook page and I’m sure most of you listen via iTunes!

All past and future shows can be found HERE (providing we pay the bill) and HERE (forever and a day regardless because this ones free!).

And you can keep up to date with what we are doing on our Seen on Screen facebook page – Come along and talk to us – tell us what you think. Join in and maybe even offer your services as an occasional guest host.

On todays show proudly hosted by Uncle Ben we discuss The Conjuring, Little Al rants about publicity whore Oprah Winfrey.

Where do you sit in the cinema and how much do you pay?

Does piracy destroy cinema?

Uncle Ben and Little Al say no, all it does is mean they watch films they would NEVER pay to go and watch at the cinema. And they both go to the cinema often.

Uncle Ben tries to convince Little Al that Grown Up’s 2 was worth the effort and money spent making it. I mean really isn’t the film industry it’s own worst enemy churning out dull sequels (or even prequels), remakes of remakes and paying too many no talent actors too much money.

There are many, many great independent films that never see the light of day whilst films like Grown Up’s 2 get made and distributed widely.

We seem to have a continuous technical glitch with the show that occasionally means Little Al is on echo beach! Sorry bout that.

And whats’s with the new Dr Who, Who is this Peter Capaldi character?

Why do small independent British films produce so many actors who go on to big success, Think Trainspotting, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The Full Monty? Is that the fault of Hollywood again with shitty big budget films stuffed full of pretty boy and girl no talent actors (Josh Duhamel for instance).

How many films has Johnny Depp single handedly carried?

The following is all Allegedly!!!!!

Bruce Willis is a dick wad – There will be a follow-up to Now You See Me – Bryan Cranston or Mark Strong are possible Lex Luther candidates for Batman vs Superman – The Lone Ranger Is Losing Millions

And finally we talk about football because after all this is a TV and Movie podcast!

As you can imagine with so much pushed into such a short period of time the show is packed full of awesome! After all this is the Non Sophisticated Film and TV Blog Podcast!

From storm hit England Uncle Ben makes the intenets work for him and we get a show.

In todays show we discuss Inglorious Basterds, R.I.P.D. Arrested Development, Hummingbird, Little Al plays quizmaster on a Star Wars Death quiz for Unlce Ben who knows too much for his own good. (funtrivia.com).

R.I.P.D. In a spoiler filled section Little Al does not understand why this film gets such a bad mark on IMDB as he enjoyed it. Mind you he totally agrees with them on Hummingbird (Redemption) the stinker from Jason Statham.

Uncle Ben may have been the last person on Earth to watch Inglorious Basterds but we don’t care better late then never as Uncle Ben gives a thorough review.

This show is really just another excuse for these two to carry on their intergalactic argument which started from the first minute they met.

The Pacific Rim Job Vs The Transformers

Click to Play Ep 9

Welcome to Episode 9 of the Seen on Screen Podcast. In todays episode which consists of three parts glued together to make one show (f**king teh internets screwed us). We have a new Captain of the ship as Uncle Ben takes the helm as Captain Pugwash and Little Al plays the part of Rodger the Cabin Boy.

Today we hear the story of how some dirty little arsonist burnt little Al’s house (and livelihood) down. We have a Comic Con section from Ben which collapses into mayhem as Ben mentions Batman in Superman. Little Al is less than impressed.

We have a long segment on Pacific Rim and Little Al argues with Uncle Ben that it pisses all over Transformers. Ben refuses to give ground and a fight ensues.

We also talk about other stuff including Rum Diaries and the fact that The Hobbit has finished filming.

Spiderman is also in the spotlight and Ben gets all upset about all the remakes and Little Al agrees and mentions The Tomorrow People which America is remaking but which was originally a kids TV show in the 70’s in the UK. And Ben get’s upset with the Members of Queen, Well Roger Taylor and the Poodle Haired One.

This show is really just another excuse for these two to carry on their intergalactic argument which started from the first minute they met.

Episode 8 of the Seen on Screen podcast.

Today we find Uncle Ben and his Son (Connor) parked up at the side of the road somewhere in the sunny English countryside.

And Little Al seems to have a decent internet connection today. So a show can be made. Todays show is heavy on death, death is everywhere.

So we discuss the recent death of Corey from Glee (yes, neither of us know who the f he was, so sue us), quickly though Uncle Ben is all over Heath Ledger and his role as the Joker.

We do talk about lots of other dead actors and actresses. Before eventually discussing some films and TV shows. We cover Despicable Me 2, Broken City, Defiance, Flight, Parker, House of Cards, Zero Hour, Terra Nova and the god awful – Rogue!

As you can imagine with so much pushed into such a short period of time the show is packed full of awesome!  After all this is the Non Sophisticated Film and TV Blog Podcast!

A Quick Catch Up

Ok, OK, OK, I know we missed another podcast but we have a good excuse honest.

I am based in Malaysia whilst Uncle Ben is in the UK and to do the show we need a decent Skype connection and on Sunday night we didn’t get it. We tried we really did but it sounded like Ben was blowing bubbles in a tin. So after 15 minutes or so we pulled the plug. So, well next week! Yes, we will almost certainly record a new show this Sunday evening ready for you on Monday.

Until then here is a quick catch-up on some stuff I have watched, If you want long reviews of shows you gotta listen to the show because that’s Uncle Bens forte. I don’t remember detail, I watch films on my computer on a screen that’s to my right whilst playing poker, surfing porn or facebooking. So, I miss lots of detail. Occasionally things will grab me and I will give my full attention.

Let’s start with Rogue (season 1) a 2013 TV series starring Thandie Newton, Marton Csokas and Joshua Sasse.

Apparently and according to IMDD.com

“Grace, a morally and emotionally-conflicted undercover detective, is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son’s mysterious death. In her quest for the truth, Grace finds herself striking out on her own and falling deeper into the city’s most powerful and dangerous crime family. As Grace struggles to become the wife and mother her family now needs, her life is further complicated by a forbidden relationship with crime boss Jimmy Laszlo. In order to stay alive, Grace needs to help Jimmy find the traitor in his midst, while knowing he may have played a part in her tragedy”. Written by DirecTV Publicity

I wouldn’t know I got bored about 20 minutes in. I may go back and try again one day (but then again no).  It just looked uninteresting, badly acted and written IMHO.

Next up is Fire with Fire Starring Josh Duhamel, Rosario Dawson with Bruce Willis and 50 Cent.

This film was OK, I am not in anyway convinced that Duhamel is an actor of any note and he could easily be replaced in almost any film I have seen him in with a first timer and I don’t think you would notice. Rosario Dawson on the other hand would be missed. Bruce does a great job in this small role and 50 Cent, well 50 cent is 50 Cent! Vincent D’Onofrio does a seriously enjoyable job. The film is no masterpiece in fact it’s pretty awful at times and totally unbelievable, but its loaded with action which kept me engaged. I certainly would not spend money to watch this at a cinema or indeed would be happy if I had paid for a full price DVD, but I didn’t so there!

Now of course if you buy the real DVD what you don’t get is a DVD that wont play, that’s the situation I had with House of Cards, I watched the first two episodes and then the crappy pirated disc failed, so to finish the series I gotta go shopping again! From what i have seen so far this is a f**King excellent series. Kevin Spacey is simply excellent in this very well written remake of a 1990 British political drama of the same name. For once the Americans have done a really good job transplanting it in the USA.
